So Who Missed Arpita's Reception?

The Bollywood galaxy nearly descended at Taj Land’s End, Bandra, to greet, wish and bless the newly-wed Arpita Khan and Aayush Sharma who got married on Salim and Salma Khans 50^th wedding anniversary and were celebrating their union on Helens birthday. Actor Salman Khan played host and photographer for the do...Dont believe us? Check his Instagram page for evidence! But what surprised most of the industry was the list of absentees from the celebrations. Ministers, actors, industrialists...everyone was invited and most of them arrived. From those who didnt, we hear some werent invited and some didnt turn up despite an invitation.

Narendra Modi tops the list. He didnt make it to Salmans sisters marriage but ensured he sends good wishes to the couple. His wife was in Mumbai on the day of the reception but its not quite clear if she attended the function. Given how low profile she has been, even if she one wouldnt know.

President Pranab Mukherjee also couldnt make it, thanks to his prior commitments elsewhere but he also ensured he sends his best wishes to the newly-weds. Anil and Tina Ambani werent around although Nita and Mukesh Ambani were.

Karan Johar and Aamir Khan were at a summit in Delhi for most of the day and the evening addressing an elite crowd on various subjects. Joining them was Deepika Padukone, who was also on Salmans guest-list. The trio had plans to touch down in Mumbai late into the night and join the revelry but they couldnt. Karan and Aamir did make their presence felt at the wedding in Hyderabad. But DP gave the entire event a miss. Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra were not to be seen though they have cordial relations with the Khan-daan.

Sonam Kapoor wasnt seen or heard either. She was away for some prior professional commitments. Katrina Kaif, of course, attended the wedding, faced some embarrassing moments there, and this time, ducked the event. Ditto her beau Ranbir Kapoor and his family, including Rishi and Neetu Kapoor. Randhir Kapoor, Rima Nanda and Karisma attended and were overheard telling someone close that Chintu Kapoor is still recovering from his Dengue-Malaria attack and so a wedding may not be a healthy thing to do.  

Rani Mukherji and Aditya Chopra were mourning Ravi Chopras death and so, didnt make it to the do. Mother Pamela Chopra was in Goa for the film festival.

Kareena Kapoor Khan was seen exiting the city at the airport on the day of the reception. Saif wasnt found in the city either. He was busy promoting Happy Ending and since Salman and he don't share a great rapport, he didn't attend the reception though he was back in town late night. 

Arjun Kapoor didnt make it though his daddy Boney did sans wife Sridevi and daughters Jhanvi and Khushi. Arjun and Arpita were in a relationship for a while before he became an actor. And its not always comfortable to share your joys with an ex-lover, no?

Javed Akhtar returned to Mumbai from an outstation visit but decided against attending the reception of his former partner, Salim Khans daughter. And we thought Salim-Javed might just reunite! Its a different story that Javeds kids, Farhan and Zoya, attended the do and made up for his absence.

Shah Rukh Khan who was among the last guests to arrive was extremely friendly with not just host Salman but also his sister Alvira and mother Salma. He even escorted Salma after the party to her car.

Sangeeta Bijlani, one of Salmans former girlfriends, made it to the do but his most steady date and one of his closest friends Somi Ali couldnt make it, thanks to visa issues but apparently, she sent a video message for the couple wishing them on their new journey together.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali wasnt seen anywhere near the reception venue. It seems he was busy with some work on Bajirao Mastani. Really now!

David Dhawan and family didnt arrive for the reception. Ditto Priyanka Chopra. They had attended the wedding in Nizams palace anyway.

Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan with Jaya were also missing in action. They were busy celebrating Aishwaryas fathers birthday in Mumbai. Amitabh was travelling between Goa, Mumbai and Delhi. And it seems in order to ensure the Sr Bachchan is not embarrassed, he was not sent an invitation.
